RICK ROSS - HOLD ME BACK (NIGERIA)
There is some
controversy over this alternative version of Rick Ross's new hood anthem 'Hold Me Back'. Turns out some Nigerians are not happy about how their country is being depicted in the video. I can understand that but the truth is these are real scenes filmed in the country therefor it is what it is. It is my opinion that it is not up to Ross to shape a perception of an entire nation. That would be the job of that nations government and people. The camera sees what the camera sees and although it is true that the power of editing can shape images to tell the story the editor wants to tell, I still feel Ross as an artist should not be held responsible for shaping peoples views one way or the other about an entire nation. Then again maybe even the perception of negative press can bring about the much needed attention that nations such as Nigeria need to further help in their development out of 3rd world status. I think the video created by Dre Films and Spiff TV was well made and very entertaining. Shout to Ross and the MMG camp.
