THE PURPLE TAPE IS BACK!

 >> Music Posted 9/23/2009 by ninetieshiphop.

I know most blogs are all about trying to be the first or the exclusive leak or only talking about something when its brand new but we dont give a damn about all that! I think this album was released a couple weeks back or maybe just last week. Either way it doesnt matter, the reason I am posting something about it now is because no one takes the time to post how they feel about an album after they have completely digested it and this is one of those albums that deserves a post like that. I have to say that I thought Raekwon was creatively done after hearing his releases after "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx" but the man has redeemed himself! Not only is this a solid album but its damn close to replicating that same good ol feel of the first "OB4CL". If your a fan of the original Wu-Tang sound as well as a fan of classic 90's Hip Hop than I know your enjoying this album right now. I congratulate Raekwon for putting this album together in the same method he had put the first one and I also thank him for digging deep and bringing out that hungry MC out himself again!

THANKS DEED!

 >> Crazy blogs Posted 9/22/2009 by crazyhood.
As we welcome everyone to Crazyhood.com's new look, we want to thank our good friend KILLA DEED. DEED created and updated the previous site for about a decade now. For those that know DEED, managing other peoples websites are not his forte or his passion, yet he put up with our shit for all these years and help keep Crazy Hood Productions on the world wide web. We definitely appreciate all the time and effort he put into the site and wanted to pay homage to our homie. He may or may not be a retired Graffiti writer but either way he is and was one of the baddest Graff writers in all of Miami, Florida! Nowadays he is one of the baddest cyclist south of the Mason Dickson! lol

DEED, we might have to bother you a couple more times while we transition everything over to the new site, but over all we are pleased we don't have to bother you anymore for updates and tech related support. You have done your time with us and again, we truly appreciate it homie! Thanks from the entire Crazy Hood family!

SKAM2? DID IT!

 >> Crazy blogs Posted 9/22/2009 by crazyhood.
In case you were wondering who did the amazing artwork that adorns our new website. Skam2? is the culprit behind that piece as well as many others which you have most likely seen at some point. This particular piece was something Skam2? cooked up for Garcia's debut lp "Anti Social". The characters name is "Norm" and he is strapped to a straight jacket cuz he is loco (ie. Crazy Hood / Who's Crazy) in the cabeza. The character was first seen on DA ALL's debut album titled "Who's Crazy?". We hope to see more of norm in the coming years. Anyways.... back to Skamie, Skam2? is not only an artist but he is also a bad ass musician with lyrics sharper than a porcupines spine! As you can tell by his art, Skam2? is not your run of the mill Hip Hopster...The dude is alot deeper than that! He is a Miami-Dade county pioneer and before the days of Rick Ross's Hustlin and Khaleds "We the best", Skam2? was sharing the mic with Eminem.

Here are just some examples of some of Skam2?'s artwork, which he would gladly do for you at a reasonable (post death) Picasso rate. Also check out his latest music which is also just as impressive and eclectic. You can check him out on myspace.com/Skam2. Make sure you also check out Skam2?'s partner in rhyme Shadowman (we see you homie!) Shadow & Skam2? together make up the group Old World Disorder. Check Shadow on myspace.com/shadowman.

BEEF: "A TALE OF TWO SNEAKERS"

 >> Crazy blogs Posted 9/21/2009 by crazyhood.

Who would of stunk it! That these two sneaker power houses were not only related but had a mean ass rivalry to go with it! Read the Newsweek article all about it! I am an Adidas fan so its not secret what side I'm on!

By Jennifer Barrett | Newsweek Web Exclusive

Adidas and Puma may be among the most recognized brands in the world, but neither might exist if not for a bitter rivalry between two brothers from a little-known village in Germany. In the 1920s, Adolf (Adi) Dassler, a soft-spoken sports fanatic who spent hours working on shoe designs in his workshop, and Rudolf Dassler, a gregarious salesman, started a small shoe making business in the Bavarian enclave of Herzogenaurach, focusing primarily on hand-sewn athletic footwear. But as their business took off, the two brothers grew increasingly frustrated with each other. They disagreed on everything from politics, the future of the company and one anther's choice in wives.

Finally, in the mid-1940s Rudolf left in a huff and set up a rival shop across the river, while Adi remained in the initial plant. His company was renamed Adidas, and in 1948 Rudolf registered his new company, Puma. NEWSWEEK's Jennifer Barrett spoke with Barbara Smit, author of the new book "Sneaker Wars" (Ecco; $26.95), about how a family feud spawned two of the biggest brands in global sports. Excerpts:

NEWSWEEK: Most people wearing Pumas or Adidas today likely have no idea that two estranged German brothers founded the companies. How did you become interested in their story?

A MUSICAL FIRST FOR MILLIONS OF CUBANS

 >> Whos Crazy Posted 9/20/2009 by crazyhood.
It doesn't seem like to many people in the "Hip Hop" community are aware about Latin mega star Los Juanes concert in Cuba today, but trust that the entire political world was not only aware but monitoring the situation. Whether you like latin music or not this concert was a big deal in how music can impact the world. Not to mention Hip Hop music was represented in its own way at the event. Hip Hop artist from countries other than the United States were there to spit their lyrics to over a million Cubans who had never witnessed a concert of this magnitude! What ever your political views may be there is not denying the impact this concert could have for Cuba and Cubans in general. Like many musical movements in the past such as hood stock, live aid, we are the world, lets just hope this some how improves the living conditions of every day Cubans living on the island nation!

MOVIE PICK OF THE WEEK: "SIN NOMBRE"

 >> Film Posted 9/20/2009 by crazyhood.

I can't say that movies with subtitles are my favorites to watch but when the movie is good subtitles or not its worth it. Being I speak spanish, spanish speaking films are easier to watch but don't get it twisted not all spanish dialects are exactly the same so there are several parts of this movie that i was going to the subtitles for a better understanding. With that said I must say this movie was very well put together. In my book cinematography is just as important as a good story line and characters and "Sin Nombre" was all about the visuals. If you like gangsta flicks this movie is for you and if you like social commentary than this movie is also for you. I definitely recommend you pick up the dvd and do a movie night with this one!

R.I.P. DJ ROC RAIDA

 >> Crazy blogs Posted 9/19/2009 by crazyhood.

It almost seems that the powers that be are trying to tell us something. It seems that they are preparing us for something serious by systamticaly taking away priceless talent from our world. Its that or God is about to throw a bad ass party in heaven and needs nothing but the best! We were blessed to have been able to witness the talents of Roc Raida! I myself had the pleasure of meeting him on several ocasions and he was a very humble dude. I can also remember being a very young DJ and buying one of the X-Ecutioner video tapes to see if anything I saw could rub off on me! The dude was nothing but pure Hip Hop at its purest form and just like DJ AM we have lost another Hip Hop soldier! My condolences go out to Roc Raidas family and the entire X-Ecutioners crew!

After receiving several text messages and emails I was still in disbelief but it was this message from Busta to the twitter world that made it official:
