I understand the issues that have caused these laws and sentiments to be brought up. In all honesty this might be the only thing the state can do at the local level to deal with illegal immigration and all that comes with it, but the future ramifications of these kinds of laws are not being considered or debated enough. Its bad enough the level of racial profiling that will be done but its the Pandora's box of laws, restrictions and control over all Americans (U.S.) that concerns me the most. The U.S. has been trying to put a band aide on a problem that historically could of been prevented or at least dealt with decades ago. There is a shit storm brewing across the nation and its only going to get worse. Read this L.A. Times article about deporting U.S. born children of Illegal immigrants.
Los Angeles Times:
First, it was the Arizona law that has spurred some California Democrats to call for a boycott of the state. Now, Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Alpine) says the federal government should deport U.S.-born children of undocumented immigrants.
"Would you support deportation of natural-born American citizens that are the children of illegal aliens," Hunter was asked. "I would have to, yes," Hunter said. "... We simply cannot afford what we're doing right now," he said. "... It takes more than just walking across the border to become an American citizen. It's what's in our souls. ..."
Hunter made his comments at a "tea party" rally in the San Diego County city of Ramona over the weekend. You can see a video of his remarks below.
